                            - Significance is demonstrated by being the first in the world to simulate this physically-important problem with quantitative accuracy, which directly led to Jimack being invited to become a co-I on the EPSRC Manufacturing Hub application led by Brunel University (“Future Liquid Metal Engineering Hub”, awarded £10,138,665 in late 2015, over 7 years, as EP/N007638/1) with 12 major industrial partners. Furthermore, the generality of the techniques developed is illustrated in the subsequent publication in “Advances in Engineering Software” (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.advengsoft.2016.06.003), demonstrating the successful application to broader classes of problems featuring strong nonlinearities and multiple length and time scales.
