                            - 1.9-7.5m3 of TOPW are produced/tonne of olives. In Mediterranean countries, this causes serious environmental problems when released untreated. Treatment costs TOP companies ~5-10 euro/m3 and is commonly unsuccessful in meeting discharge limits. Operating under real conditions, the MBR described here reduced this cost by ~50% with near-complete removal of polyphenols and TOC. Too, its small space and facilities needs render it portable, advantageous for wider adoption. A 0.48M euro collaborative project (7SMEs2010, General Secretariat for R&T, Greece) with SMEs Higas and Kamaraki, this work then formed a key part of the 24 partner, 7.5M euro, H2020 AGROCYCLE project (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/690142, http://www.drvna-konferencija.hr/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/EKO-KVARNER.pdf).
