- This monograph brings together findings from research conducted over an eight-year period. It includes first-hand analysis of a large body of material, including little-studied archival holdings from across the Caribbean (University of the West Indies; private holdings), Canada (McMaster University) and the UK (George Padmore Institute; London Met Archives; Henry Swanzy Archives; BBC Archives). It discusses a variety of short stories, poetry and fiction by an uncommonly wide range of post-war authors, including those neglected by mainstream analysis. This culminates in an original argument as to the prevalence and complexity of their fictional handling of the theme of sexuality.
