                                - This co-authored research monograph, comprising six chapters and c.80,000 words, draws on a broad range of charity and other archives located across the United Kingdom, as well as a large volume of printed primary material. The book makes a significant intervention in the histories of philanthropy, money, and fundraising. Chiefly, it represents the first full-length study to analyse the emergence of ‘charity entrepreneurship’, including the Victorian/Edwardian development of modern techniques of marketing, branding, PR, accountability and franchising. Roddy and Strange wrote most of chapters 1-4 and 6 50/50. Taithe wrote, and Roddy and Strange revised chapter 5.
