- Dr Coo’s editorial contribution to this themed issue consists of writing 50% of the introduction, co-editing the entire volume, and seeing it through the publication process; all of this was shared equally with the co-editor, Dr Uhlig. The work as co-editors was fundamental to the shaping of the intellectual framework of the work as a whole. Contributors were selected and invited on the basis of what Coo and Uhlig wanted the issue to achieve in terms of both even coverage of material and methodological and theoretical variety. Coo and Uhlig prepared the publishing proposal submitted to the Institute of Classical Studies, a criterion of which was the development of a rigorous and coherent editorial strategy. As part of this strategy, Coo and Uhlig provided significant guidance to contributors throughout the process of researching their chapters by facilitating the cross-dissemination of research ideas between contributors; reading and offering feedback on all chapters; selecting readers for two rounds of blind peer-review and managing the review process; and preparing and copy-editing the finished typescript.
