                            - First report of a bismuth-based MAX phase arising from sabbatical visit by Michel Barsoum, champion of MAX phases, to Imperial in 2015 leading to further collaborations on nanolaminated borides (Scientific Reports 6 26475 (2016)), follow-on funding from EC Horizon 2020 (€4.5M IL TROVATORE consortium on accident tolerant nuclear fuels led by Katholic University Leuven), Lee being awarded a Sêr Cymru Chair by Welsh Government in 2017 and leading Nuclear Futures Institute at Bangor with the £6M funds.  Horlait took a prestigious Chargé de Recherche position at CNRS in France (2016) and Middleburgh a Senior Lectureship Bangor University (2017).
