- This book introduces a theoretically innovative model of translanguaging, a construct more typically applied to cross-linguistic phenomena. It extends the construct to encompass the interactions of verbal/visual/embodiment in the communicative repertoire. The model specifically addresses i) questions of translation theory, proposing a novel practice-oriented approach to translation and ii) extends translanguaging, a cutting edge topic in the sociolinguistics of multilingualism. The model is applied to two contrasting datasets: i) a three year study of interaction in a superdiverse neighbourhood in Leeds ii) a study of Chinese experimental poetry. A product of a complex, multi-layered investigation, it thus demonstrates perspectival/contextual depth.
