                            - This work, based on the outcome from EU-FP7-PEOPLE/253106 project, funded by EPSRC (EP/I027904/1), is a milestone in utilising low-grade heat from industries and the Sun, to drive a novel adsorption-linear-expander cycle for cogeneration of power and refrigeration (LH-Cogen). A prototype LH-Cogen was designed and built/tested. The results showed that the LH-Cogen could generate electricity and cooling simultaneously, driven by low-grade heat (120 - 130 °C). It has led to further EPSRC and Innovate-UK funding (EP/M008088/1, EP/P511201/1 and 1805_OPEN_R1_1819) being secured for application of such concept to seasonal energy storage and adding nano-materials to enhance the performance of the LH-Cogen.
