It draws together archival research spanning 11 years (2007-2018) across numerous archives, including the Hindemith Institute, Frankfurt-am-Main; Yale University; Oral History of American Music; Universität der Künste Berlin; and the University of Buffalo. It introduces Hindemith’s music theory, and provides analyses of his music in addition to examples by his contemporaries.
