- Double-weighted statement
- This book (352pp.) offers the most comprehensive edition and study of the first-century epic poet Dionysius, a key transitional figure in the history of later Greek poetry. It expands the number of fragments of his Bassarica, incorporating twelve additional entries from the lexicon of Stephanus of Byzantium and two new papyri. A careful re-examination of his papyri has resulted in a large number of significant corrections and new readings and a more reliable text. The volume includes an extensive introduction contextualising the poetry, a critical edition of the Greek text, an English translation, and a detailed linguistic and literary commentary.
