- Mandarins and Heretics: the Construction of Heresy in Chinese State Discourse represents the culmination of an extended programme of research. The book is 80,000 words in length, and was sole-authored by Junqing Wu. It draws on the collection and analysis of a large body of archival research, undertaken over a period of 5 years, in libraries and archives in UK, China and the Netherlands. Primary sources consulted include the �veritable records� of various emperors� reigns, dynastic histories, state records and legal codes and commentaries.
