                            - This paper was the first output of a collaboration in droplet manipulation between Durham University and Northumbria University which led to the EPSRC funded project (EP/L026619/1) and also subsequent work at Northumbria on superhydrophobic surfaces using oil impregnated meshes (Scientific Reports (2019) 9:13280). This research also facilitated a joint iCASE project led by Durham University (EP/P510476/1) with Jaguar Land Rover where the developed technology relies on microfabricated devices for surface wetting control and droplet clearance from surfaces (contact: Vibin Ambukan, vambuka1@jaguarlandrover.com).
