                            - Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are essential to the operation of a future 5G-supported ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT). But a serious vulnerability occurs when sensor nodes are compromised by an attacker. Here, a new sensor node fusion algorithm is proposed and analysed which militates against any security breach and allows the ‘under-attack’ WSN to outperform all existing approaches. Part-funded by a joint EPSRC/Newton fund UK/Chile project (EP/N03435X/1, £254k), the WSN security results led to a UK/Mexico British Council Newton Fund grant ‘Wireless Sensor Networks for Real-Time Monitoring of Water Quality’ (IL3264631003, £80k), and research collaboration with industrial co-partner ‘Smart Buildings’ (Leeds).
