                            - A predictive model for pit-to-fatigue crack transition time under cyclic loading is proposed considering local stress at the pits. The model has since been implemented at TWI Ltd. (david.smyth-boyle@twi.co.uk) and BP (roberto.morana@uk.bp.com) to optimise the repair and maintenance schedule of oil and gas steel pipelines. This work formed the basis of a new project at TWI Ltd. (ca. £100k, “Effect of plasticity on damage evolution”, 02/2019) and a grant from The Carbon Trust awarded to TWI Ltd. (ca. £92K, “Fatigue of offshore wind turbine support structures”, david.smyth-boyle@twi.co.uk, 11/2019)
