- This is the first comprehensive biography of one of the most prominent Welsh cultural figures during the twentieth century. A ten year logistically-challenging project, it draws on extensive and exhaustive research, e.g. primary oral evidence from decedents and acquaintances of the subject; previously undiscovered private archive materials; over 700 manuscript items alone in Bangor University Archives and Special Collections; original undiscussed reports relating to theatre censorship in Britain and Wales in the Lord Chamberlain’s Collection deposited in the British Library; government and official papers, e.g. relating to the 1969 Investiture Committee held in the National Archives, Kew.
