                            - A world-first BP-fibre optic biosensor is proposed, which directly results in three breakthroughs including: i) novel photonic-nano-bio configuration, ii) BP bio-functionalisation, and iii) ultrahigh sensitivity for cancer diagnosis. It led to 2 new grants: EU-H2020-MSCA-2019-872049 (PI/Coordinator:X.Chen, €1,002,800) to bring together a consortium of 13 world-class academic organisations/companies (from 4-continents) to bridge continents & integrated photonic-nano-bio technologies. The combination of industrial/academic expertise will foster translation of cutting-edge research to real-world applications in medicine/food safety/environmental monitoring; ERDF/WEFO (SEEC-Bangor; £7M; PI:S.Neill; Co-I:X.Chen). It established new academic/industrial/hospital collaborations with Creo Medical (chris.hancock@creomedical.com), Arden Photonics Ltd (david.robinson@ardenphotonics.com) and Hospital Vall d’Hebron/Barcelona (jjgonzal@vhebron.net).
