                            - A reduction in the number of signal cables is required to achieve usable catheter diameters, maintain flexibility for guidance, and reduce induced heating during MRI-guided interventions. Previously patented Leeds research (WO2017/066564)) demonstrated the use of time-domain multiplexed signals for reducing catheter diameter. This paper demonstrates how direct digital multiplexing of these analogue signals can further reduce the number of required transmit/receive cables. Supported by a National Institute for Health (NIH) grant (1 U01 HL121838-01), this enables miniaturization of intracardiac echocardiography ultrasound catheters to provide an uninterrupted real-time full-volume intraprocedural three-dimensional en-face depiction of both the cardiac pathology and catheter.
