                            - This work advances understanding of Neptunium routing in the Advanced PUREX process, a nuclear weapons proliferation-resistant reprocessing route being developed in the UK. In conventional PUREX, 34% of Np is routed to waste. The significance of this work is its demonstration that Advanced PUREX can achieve 99% Np extraction/recycle with consequent radiological/economic benefits for waste management. The output stems from the MBASE project (EPSRC, EP/1002855/1) and NNL/EPSRC co-funded IAA and EngD awards (EP/G037426/1). Its findings are now being implemented in UK HMG’s National Nuclear Innovation Programme and in the EURATOM GENIORS Project’s GANEX process (contract 755171, 24 organisations) (robin.j.taylor@uknnl.com)
