- This Welsh-language article tests the potential for translation studies to produce new insights into the literary products and productivity of modern Welsh culture. Can a creative interpretation and implementation of translation studies, and its practice, offer a fresh perspective on the significance of individual literary texts within the wider framework of a body of canonical work? Saunders Lewis, and his play 'Esther' is under study, along with a translation of a Catalan play of the same name and subject matter, by Phillip Polack, forms the focus of this enquiry into how responsible any form of translation can, or should be.
