                            - This paper led to the emergence of a vibrant research area, with over 10 follow-on journal papers from the authors. It led to one directly related collaborative EPSRC project (EP/S003436/1 and EP/S002871/1, £1.6M) with £265k of in-kind support (including Huawei, Xtera), and two related projects addressing similar concepts (EP/S016171/1, EP/R035342/1). It resulted in direct industrial support; including £250k industry contract completed (Huawei, Senior Scientist & Project Manager), and £1.3M awarded (Huawei, Executive Vice President). This paper resulted in 3 invited and one plenary presentation at international conferences (lead author) and contributed to an awarded OSA Fellowship (https://www.osa.org/en-us/awards_and_grants/fellow_members/recent_fellows/2018_fellows/).
